NEW IN VideoEngine2:

Auto Crossfade between Layer A/B Clip-Pairs per Player

All video clips used in the popup menu of Layer A (yellow) also occur inside the popup menu of Layer B (blue).

For each clip in Layer A a arbitrary corresponding clip in Layer B can be chosen which is afterwards always automatically selected when recalling a Layer A clip.

This is a very convenient way to always blend between selected clip pairs with defined crossfade times.

The crossfade times are set within the fader window (see below).

The clip specific parameters Loop/Start-End Time used in Layer A are also used in Layer B clips with the same names.

Workflow:

When starting Layer A the clip is automatically faded in with the time saved for that clip („Fade A“). Only if the fader is already positioned at the maximum level, the clip is faded in instantly („0 sec“).

When starting Layer B the clip is faded to Layer B within the saved time („Fade B“). Default fade time is 2 sec, 0 sec means instant start.

If the user wants to crossfade between Layer A and B during playback of both layers clicking on „Fade A“ resp. „Fade B“ fades to the desired layer. Clicking on „Stop“ interrupts the autofading at the current fader position.

Using the new USB „JogRemote“ allows a much more precise and relaxed handling of these paramenters during a show (see below).

Starting a empty cue („-------“) in Layer B allows a Fade to Black within a defined duration for Layer A.

The same result can be achieved by clicking on „Fade B“ while the B-Layer is not running (STOP).

Netplayer

Using Player5 up to 255 computers with an installed SOLOPlayer can be remotely controlled by selecting the appropriate remote groups.

The only prerequisite: all computers have to be on the same ethernet (WLAN or cable)and each computer must have a SOLOPlayer USB dongle inserted.

Currently Start/Stop/Pause/Clip Number and the adjustment of clip start/stop times adjustment can be controlled from Player5.

So for example jumping to clip 14 in Player5 lets also jump all SOLOPlayers to clip 14 on the network attached computers, pressing PLAY on Player5 starts all clips together.

Each TH-S VideoEngine2 license includes one SOLOPLayer for free.

More details how to use the SOLOPlayer also in rehearsal and other situations, see below.

Additional Alphablending between Machine3/4 and Machine2

Activating the „Alphablend M2“ button enables playing out the content of Machine3/4 via alphablending over Machine2. This allows aditional complex mix and effects possibilities for those players.

New USB Hardware Integration (active in background)

Selecting the USB button brings up a new USB remote dialog.

There you can select which remote you want to use for each layer (for example you can use one USB20 for each layer).

Also you can choose the new JogRemote which has a lot more remote functions and works for both layers.

SOLOPlayer with USB Dongle and Ethernet Remote Capabilities

The SOLOPlayer requires an inserted USB dongle so it can be used on arbitrary OSX computers.

No additional installation is necessary. As in VideoEngine2 only a empty Show Template has to be

copied on the used computer to start working.

The SOLOPlayer was developed for two main applications:

1) Rehearsals and small productions that need no complex technical setup (i.e. via laptop for sound and video playback).

2) Scalable distributed synchronous multichannel video and audio playback via remote from VideoEngine2 for distant positions of beamers, monitors etc. (i.e. Events, Themeparks, Tradeshows, Opera/Theatre ...)

Up to 255 SOLOPLayers can be remotely controlled from player5 (Netplayer) of VideoEngine2.

All Quicktime compatible Video- and Audio codecs as well as multichannel audio files up to 8 channels (even within video files) are supported.

-- When ordered, a IPod Nano (3rd Gen.) can also be configured alternatively as an USB Dongle --

Quick Start:

• Launching SOLOPlayer needs a valid plugged in USB dongle.

• If a second monitor/beamer is connected to the computer it is automatically used fo the video playout.

If no second monitor is connected the videoscreen also shows up in the user interface monitor.

Toggling <Esc> allows then switching between fullscreen video and the user interface.

• New Show-Creation as in TH-S Audio/VideoEngine:

-> New Show is created by duplicating and naming a empty Show Template folder

-> Name of the program inside the folder Ordner stays the same

• Drag&Drop for Playlists and Files as in TH-S Audio/VideoEngine2:

-> Insert/Replace/Clear/Delete/

• Used/Remaining time as in VideoEngine2.

• Loop/AutoCue (incl. Playthrough)/Start-/Stotime per Cue as in TH-S Audio/VideoEngine2

-> Start/Stop via SpaceBar or F1, NEXT via <Ctrl A>, PREV via <Ctrl Q>, Pause via <Shift 1>

• The Tempo Fader on the right hand side stays in the last clicked position. Fine adjustment can be achieved by scrolling in the post-decimal position. Resetting by scrolling to 1 or clicking on the number and typing in the appropriate value. The tempo range is between -4.0 and +6.0.

• Scaling of the video output is done as in TH-S VideoEngine2. The standard format is 4:3. Other formats are automatically scaled to the screen by selecting the screen size one time after the first playback.

Screen sizes are Original/Half/Fullscreen/Dualscreen (when using a dual head graphics card)

• The number above the clip names can be changed between 1 and 16 according to the remote group selected in the netplayer of VideoEngine2.

• Remotable via TH-S VideoEngine2 are Start/Stop/Pause/Clipnumber/Start-Stoptime settings.

SpeedConsolidator for VideoEngine2 and SOLOPlayer allows Consolidation of whole Shows via Drag&Drop

The SpeedConsolidator is a small applet that uses underlying system routines to copy the huge amount of audio/video data with maximum speed into the MEDIA CONTAINER for backup purposes.

The links within the playlists are adapted accordingly.

The copy process can be invoked either by dragging a whole SHOW folder (NOT the MEDIA CONTAINER folder) onto the SpeedConsolidator icon or by doubleclicking it and choosing the appropriate show from a file selector box.

The original playlists are also saved in the process for backup purposes.

IMPORTANT for VideoEngine2 and SOLOPlayer on OSX:

VideoEngine2 no longer works with bundle application icons.

This means that the shows now have to be named through the folder names and no longer by changing the application names.

The application within a show folder now MUST NOT be renamed.

The advantage of this approach is that one can now also search through existing shows for consolidated files, while before they were hidden inside the bundle applications.
