Design and Planning of the Audio- and Computerinstallation for the
"Studio for electronic Music" of the Technical University Berlin (1996 Bernd Schönhaar)

Studio 1 ("großes Studio"):

New built 1996 with 76 sqm, 2 of 4 walls windows, diffused and dry acoustic, 12+4 speakers (12 with variable hanging mechanism)

• AMS-Neve Logic2 with 20 Moduls (80 channels); AudioFile; 2 SRC's; 32 AES/EBU I/O, 12 ADC's, 16 DAC's, two MADI-ports: one to Sony-PCM-3324 digital tape recorder (located in the machine-room) and one to DA-88 and Protools
• 12 Meyer UPL-1 (special hanging-system), 4 K&H O92 on top
• 1 SGI-Indy (computer located in the machine-room)
• two ProTools-Systems (Mac's located in the machine-room)
• G4 400MHz, ProTools-Mix with 2*888-IF, MIDI-Interface
(Stealth-Port); IDE-HD intern 45 GB
• PowerMac 9600 300MHz, 128/4000 MB, ProTools III with 2*888 + 1

Studio 2 ("kleines Studio"):

46 sqm, 2 of 4 walls windows, diffused and dry acoustic, 8 speakers with variable hanging mechanism

• Mixer Yamaha O2R; Software 2.0; (Cards available: AD/DA; "large" AES/EBU and "small" AES/EBU; TDIF; 3 ADAT)
• 8 Meyer UPL-1
• Two ProTools System (located in the machine room) PowerMac 8200 - 130/1000 MB, ProTools III with 16-ch by ADAT-IF; MTP-AV Quadra 950 with ProTools III, 8 channels by 888-Audio-Interface
• 2 ADAT's , Patchbay for optical cables; SRC ; word-clock'ed DAT; CD-Player
• analog Synthesizer SynLab with 15 Moduls (4 VCA, 5 VCO, 4 ADSR, 2 VCF, 2 RM, 2 S&H, 2 noise G&F, 2 Env-Followers), 4 DC-faders, 16 MIDI to 12-Bit-DACs
• Effects (Publison IF 90 / 5.1 sec; EMT 445 Delay max 21 sec mono)


Machine-Room

(contains all SGI- and Mac-computer used in the studios and workstationroom; all computers with Ethernet-access; Ethernet-bridge)

• AMS/Neve Logic 2 Rack;
• PCM Taperecorder Sony 3324 (24 tracks)
• SGI-cluster with server Challenge ("gigant", R5000, 64 MB) and 3 Indy's
• PC-Cluster under LINUX with server "gnom" and 5 Pentium-II-PC's
• Mac-Cluster with 5*888 and 2*ADAT-IF, SMPTE-/MIDI-Interfaces, 9 Harddisks, 2 of them UW-160;
